A bundle is one order, so the $0.20 listing fee and $0.25 payment fee are charged once rather than 3 times. That saving is what pays for the discount.
Why bundles beat the fee math
Most discount advice says a sale always costs you money. Bundles are the exception, because the discount is partly paid for by Etsy's own fee structure.
Flat fees are charged per order, not per item
The $0.20 listing fee and $0.25 payment fixed fee land once on a bundle. Sell three items separately and you pay them three times — $1.35 instead of $0.45.
One parcel instead of several
This is usually the bigger saving. Three separate parcels at $5 each cost $15; a single heavier parcel might cost $7. That gap goes straight into what you keep.
Percentage fees do not change
The 6.5% transaction fee and 3% payment processing apply to the order total either way, so they scale with revenue. Only the flat fees and postage give you room.
Basket size is the real win
A bundle turns one buying decision into three sales. Even at the same profit per item, you are not waiting for three separate customers to find you.
The rule worth remembering: your bundle discount is affordable up to the point where it equals your fee and postage savings. Past that, you are paying for the discount out of your own margin.
Frequently asked questions
Do you save on Etsy fees by bundling products?
Yes, and it is usually more than sellers expect. A bundle is one order, so the $0.20 listing fee and the $0.25 payment fixed fee are charged once instead of once per item. On a three-item set that alone saves about $0.90, before you count the postage saved by shipping one parcel instead of three.
How much should I discount an Etsy bundle?
Only as much as the savings allow. The fee and shipping savings from bundling give you room to discount without earning less. The calculator shows your maximum discount — the point where the bundle earns exactly what the items would separately.
Is a bundle better than selling items individually?
It depends on the discount. Bundling saves fees and postage, which usually leaves room for a real discount. But if the discount is bigger than those savings, you earn less per bundle. The one thing bundling always improves is basket size — you sell three items in one go instead of hoping for three separate orders.
Does shipping cost more for a bundle?
Usually a little, since the parcel is heavier, but far less than shipping each item separately. Three parcels at $5 each cost $15; one heavier parcel might cost $7. That $8 difference is the largest single saving from bundling for most sellers.
Should I still list the items individually as well?
Most sellers do. Individual listings capture buyers who only want one thing, and each listing is a separate entry point in Etsy search. The bundle then works as an upsell for buyers who want the whole set.
One set. One photo that sells it.
Bundles live or die on the listing photo — buyers need to see the whole set styled together. Graphloom builds that scene from your phone shots.
